Before I got this game I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Ive never played a Bioshock game before (until I purchased it on here obviously), but after hearing many positive reviews and the reviews that are already on this page I decided to take a risk and buy it. I remember thinking that $20 is a little pricy compared to what I usually get on here, but after playing the first 10 minutes of this game I was hooked. The gameplay, the soundtrack, the environments and the atmosphere of the game is just incredible (there is sometimes lag when the graphics are too high but the game never freezed at all). If youre only just thinking about buying this game then take my advice: get it. This game is easily one of the best games that I have ever played.

I love the story line in the game play although some times getting stuck because you dont have th right power on you is a bit frustrating and can make the game cumbersome. Im not complaining though well worth the download just saying :)!

This is a fun game to play through but halfway through there was no audio I am on a 2012 retina macbook pro I really hope this gets fixed because this is a great game

The game is great. This being my only real gaming system, I am forced to play the games available on the App Store and this one hits home. My only comment is it would be really nice if you also incorporated the PS3 controller into the game also. I know there is a preset for the XBox 360 but it would be nice if PS3 controllers could connect also.

An experience that is both daunting and exhilerating. I thought I had this game in terms of the story; it seemed pretty straightforward what I needed to do. Ive never been so wrong. This game took a turn in the likes that I never even expected. It kept me engaged from the moment I landed in the water…to the moment I got out. Ending was very thought provoking. It definitely made me wonder if it was inevitable or if I could have changed it if I would have made a different choice(s). Guess Ill find out when I play again!

This wont bother most users but the keymapping is flawed. I should be able to map any letter/number/symbol to any action, as in ALL other FPSs, but i cant. Lets say i have a customized keyboard layout, and I need to map ,/< or ./> or /" to something. Cant do it. I have to change my keyboard layout to Qwerty in Preferences. This should be an unecessary action and is chore to do everytime I want to play this game. There may be other keys that I havent tried but all it really takes is one well placed key to cause a problem. Im sick of being penalized for abandoning Qwerty which is a terribly inefficient layout.

One of my favorite games I have ever played. I have a generic MacBook Pro, a few years old, but the game ran smoothly. Additionally, I played the game with my xbox controller I have for a PC, as all Feral Interactive Games have support for controllers (Bioshock series, Batman Arkham series, etc.). I would buy this game again in a heartbeat.

If you have $10 to spend, then why havent you bought this game already???? I bought this game when it was $20, and I would buy it for three times as much. Totally awesome, engaging story, I have beaten it twice. Runs on pretty much any mac, but if you have any concerns, use GameAgent, an application that tells you if your computer is compatible with some of their listed games. (All of the BioShock games are listed, even Infinite, which is coming out in 3 days!)

You have to experience this game. It is simply the greatest of our generation. Buy it right now, you wont regret it. Runs great on a 13" Macbook Pro with Retina.

Bioshock 1 has a good story runs very smoothly and supports a controller (i used ps3) very awesome game definitely worth it, however do not buy bioshock 2 it doesnt support controller, laggy, just a unpleasant experience..

The visuals were great and it was fun to play. However, it is kind of hard to play on a computer and on easy mode I found myself not using plasmids at all :P Also, the story was pretty confusing, but thats better than being too simple! It makes sense once you look it up online haha. Also, I got the evil ending even though I only killed 2 littler sisters…. what? I shouldve gotten the sad ending, I think. The only thing you need to know before playing this is SAVE THE LITTLE SISTERS.

Im not bad at Left 4 Dead 1 & 2. Im terrible at this game. I think the fact that the characters gun seems to "float" a lot more in this game than in l4d causes me a lot of problems. If youve played a lot of modern FPS, and havent played this game yet, dont waste your money.

Ive never played any big computer game, nor have I played Bioshock. This game completely exceeded my expectations. It doesnt need to have zombies popping up all over to scare you; rather, the atmosphere itself makes you terrified inside. With awesome powers and weapons, as well as smooth and detailed graphics, its definitely a must-get for Mac users who want an immersive gaming experience.

**If you are reading this review it is because you can not decide if this game is worth the space and the money, well I do this for a living and I want to tell you exactly with no bias what you are in for. General: This is a great game for gamers who enjoy ANY of the following; first person shooting games, Sci-fi or fantasy worlds, Steampunk and the 1930s-1950s, Thriller games. Non-Story related Gameplay: Bioshock is a game that has designed a world that in my opinion was refreshingly original and not a stretch to any imagination. The gameplay is phenominal along with the unbelievable graphics and detail. They have succesfully creates a multidimensionl world where even the toilets flush and trashcans will fly and roll if you wack them. Walk over to some box in the corner that in other games would only be a part of the scenery and you will fin that it opens and may even contain supplies for you and will also respond to your more develish nature with a wrench. This is that rare fuly functional world that helps emerse the gamer even more and allows the game to last longer and be more enjoyable. The controls are very similar to most other games so it is easy to learn. Storyline: I guarentee you have not played a game that is anything like this one. It is so brilliant and so elaborate and perfectly executed. The city itself is tragically magnificent (In that you view it in its demise) The characters are actually scary and realistic and the story is nothing short of twisted and brilliant. You will enjoy every moment of this game and that is my honest professional opinion.

This was one of the best games I’ve evar played. It runs great, not to hard or to easy, and just the right amoun of action. The only problem that I had with it was the ending, IT WAS SOOOO EASY!!!! But over all one of the best games I’ve ever played.

Like many people here have said, this game sets a new bar to video gaming. Not only does it have stunning graphics and a great story line; it sets a new tone for gameplay. Usually in video games, you are hinted towards making certain decisions but not here. In this game you make the decisions and must also work with the consequences (a bit vague but don’t want to give away the game). Bioshock allows you to roam freely through the levels finding different items. The only drawback I can think of is there are no side games; it is just the missions you work on and that’s about it. Overall, this is one of the best games I’ve played!

The 2012 Macbook Pro 13’ Inch (OSX 10.9), while good in it’s own right and more than capable in my daily needs, has unfortunately kept me from playing anything truly ‘modern’. It only has Intel HD Integrated graphics, which most modern MAC/PC games do not like so much, and so trying to find a good game that doesn’t stutter constantly is a pain. For this reason I was a little skeptical about purchasing this game. I already knew how gorgeous it was beforehand, so I assumed it would not perform well on my model; turns out I was wrong… mostly anyway. There is some slight slowdown here and there, not particularly when enemies are on-screen, but when around elements such as fire and water which sparkle and glow. Other than that, this game runs nearly perfect on my mid-range Macbook. Given, I purchased the 8gb model to boost speed, so that alone might have saved me a huge pain. One major gripe I’ve had with ALL games on my Macbook Pro is the overheating. When I play this, along with most other games, I have to turn up the fans to keep it from burning itself into oblivion. It’s annoying, but not a dealbreaker; I do recommend SMCfancontrol, though, if you plan on keeping your laptop safe from the heat. I’ve only started playing the game, but already i’m enthralled. I’m not a huge fan of overly interactive/realistic first person shooters (finding hidden goodies, conserving ammo, upgrading powers, etc and etc), but it eases you in very nicely. Fighting the Big Daddys though… let’s just say I’m keeping it on Easy for the moment, just to get the hang of it. I would not recommend trying to use the Magic Mouse with this game. Sadly it’s all I have at the moment, and because of its design it doesn’t make for the best gaming mouse, but it does the trick just fine. If you’ve got $20 to spend, have a Macbook Pro made in the last 4 years (with a decent amount of RAM, especially), I would definitely recommend picking this up. It’s a blast so far, and truly a steal.

I’m not sure wether it’s mavericks or what but I cannot seem to download the game. After a couple hours downloading (Usually takes about 4) the app store says an error has occurred. Don’t blow your money like i did.
