Had me on edge the whole time
Bioshock is an interesting, intense, and downright fantastic experience. I will never forget the first time I set foot in rapture. This dark and complex world is a great setting for a game like this. The gameplay is fantastic and strays away from the average fps by introducing "plasmids". These are essentially cool abilities that you can use on you enemies to give you an advantage. There are a lot of plasmids to find and they all work really well. You will find yourself using nearly every plasmid you have. The weapons in this game are very simple which is a good thing. No two guns are the same. I found myself using all the guns depending on the situation and what splicer I am facing. The splicers are designed really well and there is a lot of variety. Some weapons are more effective on some splicers. You discover which weapons work best either through experience, or through researching using your camera. There are plenty of RPG elements in this game as the game rewards you for exploring every inch of the world. It also punishes you for not exploring. This game requires that you search for ammo because if you dont, you are going to die a lot. The "vita chambers" are areas where you respawn after death. Dying doesnt rewind the game so any damage you did to any enemy will not be erased. This makes some enemies a little easier to beat but sometimes it is annoying because the chambers are pretty far apart requiring you to walk long distances. They also make big daddies less of a challenge. The Big Daddies are the best part of the game. Every battle with one of them is intense and you are rewarded by killing one. If you kill a big daddy you recieve "Adam" which allows you to buy new plasmids and other upgrades. The story is interesting and the game is intense. My only complaint is that at times the game gets very tedious and it feels like they are just unnecesarily stretching the game. Overall it is an awesome experience and worth every penny. 9/10.
